Specifically investing in software that is designed for the ecommerce space, Shopify Ventures aims to create a space for new founders looking to make their mark by offering funding, business consulting, and community events. Additionally, these new founders are not locked into the Shopify platform, so there was a desire to create an identity that leveraged the expertise of Shopify, without borrowing too much visually.Looking at the venture capital funded technology space, we noticed numerous tropes including flashy 3D animations, futuristic looking gradients, and increasingly shouty typography. We made the decision to pivot from these trends by leaning into an old-school ASCII art style (early internet computer graphics using unicode characters). Through the lens of the McLaren team, Dropbox sought to tell a new story, of the demands of a high performing team that needs to organize, share, and secure their files and data at a massive scale. We helped tell this story through a brand awareness campaign that introduced a whole new audience to the benefits of Dropbox, and that those benefits go so much further than file sharing. Through a graphic approach to motion design and clever integrations of the Dropbox product into the world of Formula 1, we were able to bridge that gap and tell the story of high performing teams and once again to shut down the city for the New York City marathon. The concept, sound mind your business, was created by both teams to merge the meditative and contemplative qualities of the Asics brand with the nitty-gritty New York attitude of Bandit. The result, over two film and photo shoots led to an unforgettable pop up experience in SoHo.From initial concept of the shoot, to designing the collaborative brand world, to bringing it all together spoken about with nervous anticipation. The nature of the race is that no one knows the exact details surrounding the mysterious high-octane event until a couple weeks before. We were tapped by the Bandit team to evolve and extend the existing Bandit Grand Prix brand system by dialing the design up a notch with new graphics, an updated typographic system, and additional brand language. The industry they were looking to disrupt was ripe with tropes of silicon dishware divided into two categories; for babies and toddlers, or for camping and outdoor enthusiasts. Ribbon sought to make a splash by becoming the first silicon dishware geared towards design-minded folks that were as covetable as traditional ceramic.Seeking to distance ourselves from the softer, cute visual tone of the larger industry, we created an identity that leveraged what made traditional dishware desirable, while also tapping into the practical benefits of silicon. Additionally, we developed the product line from scratch; a cup, plate, and bowl set, and established a strong color palette that ranges from subdued to eye-catching. <img width="1920" height="1080"
